Brian is an avid world traveler ( 23 countries to date), aspiring runner, and guru for innovative ideas ranging from creative capitalism (or social entrepreneurship) to microfinance. Whitney Muse: The Chiapas Project Junior Committee Founder
What is the Junior Committee? Compromised of Dallas's young professionals and students, The Chiapas Project Junior Committee is a networking platform, educator, and fundraiser for the advancement of The Chiapas Project and its goals. Sharing the belief in the power of microfinance and backing the initiatives of The Chiapas Project, Junior Committee members educate their peers and community as well as gather financial support for their parent organization. Past events include Alex Counts' Book Signing, CEO of the Grameen Foundation and author of "Small Loans, Big Dreams," the 1st annual Boo Bash Halloween Party, a Microfinance Education Forum and with Dumas Simeus (a one time presidential candidate of Haiti and owner of Simeus Foods). Whitney is a graduate from San Diego University in International Relations and French. She has just returned from Tanzania where she was on the ground fighting poverty with microfinance and serves as a non-voting member of The Chiapas Project Board of Directors. Buke, originally from Zimbabwe, holds an MBA from UT Dallas. She is a "mover and shaker" for these two organizations and a pivotal part of putting our ideas into reality. Chris Temple, Haley Priebe, and Kyle Megrue: Founders of the Global Microfinance Forum
What is the Global Microfinance Forum? The Global Microfinance forum, at www.globalmicrofinanceforum.org, is a social networking platform that connects microfinance institutions (MFIs), university microfinance societies, and other microfinance supporters. The GMF creates a virtual space for these people to participate in an online dialogue, listen to the "Distinguished Speaker Series" guests, collaborate on academic research, work together on grass-roots fundraising campaigns, and offering intern/ job opportunities to passionate students. Grants awarded include one from Proctor and Gamble and MTV Ashoka Youth Venture. The Global Microfinance Forum has taken on The One Million Cell Phones Challenge as their first major initiative among their platform and network of students world-wide.
Chris Temple is a freshmen at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California studying International Business. He is a former intern of Grameen America and an Honorary Green Child. Chris had the opportunity to travel with 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus, The Green Children, and the Whole Planet Foundation around the world last year to visit microfinance institutions. Haley Priebe is a junior at the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland studying Sustainable Development, International Relations, and Management. She is a former intern of Grameen America and intern at Common Vocabulary, an Earth Institute project. Haley has also had the opportunity of supporting microfinance through DONT WALK Charity Fashion Show, which supported Opportunity International, and the Clinton Global Initiative University, where the Global Microfinance Forum and Recycle to Eradicate Poverty established their partnership.
